Letter from current MCNA president Sabrina Braun

Posted about 4 years ago by Mary Clark

Good Afternoon All,

I just wanted to recap from our meeting last week on the Marion County Nursing Association reboot. This is an exciting time to kick start for the Year of the Nurse, despite the COVID 19 takeover. I wanted to test out our emails and have you send me any other interested parties that you think would want to be included for our next meeting. These ideas were discussed and we will start our planning.

  • Officers and Board of Directors
    • President, Sabrina Braun (Volunteered to take on the Reboot)
    • Vice President, Patricia Price (Volunteered)
    • Secretary, Angela Martin (Volunteered)
    • Treasurer, Drumeka Rollerson (Volunteered to manage financials)
    • Organize Membership, Cathy McDonough (Volunteered to help manage membership efforts)
    • Marion County Site Management/Facebook, Jennifer Walker (Volunteered, will need access as an administrator to Facebook and site)
    • Board of Directors:
      • Mary Clark
      • Stephanie Cortes
      • Carol Brickman
      • Alley Brewer
  • Mission, Vision and Values:
    • This area was discussed and the group wanted to view current Bylaws for discussion.  I have attached both bylaws from Mary Clark.  Carol suggested that the latest might be Bylaws (1).document.   Please review and determine what changes you think need to be revised prior to next meeting.
    • Terms of Offices need to be decided
    • Mission: This information can be found on the Website (Website needs a facelift)
  • 2 Events Discussed:
    • Nurses Week Meeting (May):   Suggested and all agreed to postpone this event due to the COVID 19.  We might want to figure out something Virtual, which can be discussed at next meeting.
    • Great 100 Event (Nov):  Suggested that we have this event during APRN Week,  but will need a planning committee together
    • We have a backdrop and all other things need to be rented.
  • Membership:  More discussion will be had, but this was the things discussed.
    • A discussion was talked about and will need to decide on charging for being part of the MCNA.
    • How will we promote our organization to gain more members
    • What types of events and offerings can we do?
    • How can we reach more:  Social media, Facebook page, video, live broadcast, Tic Toc
    • How can we include our Student population (Angela Martin can assist here)
    • “Tag A Nurse”  Can help us promote membership
  • Financials:
    • Mary reported that we have seed money in our account that will need to maintain
    • Group discussion on how to create more funds
    • Stephanie maybe you can share with Drumeka how much money is in our account so she can be ready to report out at the next meeting.
  • Meetings:
    • Sabrina will set up a web-based meeting so we can discuss more information
    • Discussion about how often:  Suggestions were monthly and quarterly with two annual large events
    • Group voted that the next regularly scheduled meeting will be held at 6pm.

I hope these notes are helpful for everyone to organize around there areas that they will take responsibility with.  I have already blocked time for the next meeting on April 2nd, 2020 at 6pm via Webex Meetings.  If there are others that wish to meet with us as we organize the next steps, please send me their contact information or when I send out the invite you can forward to them.  Again this is an exciting time to reboot our club!  If you have not registered to be part of Marion County Nurses Association please go to https://marionnurses.nursingnetwork.com/page/2911-membership-join-us.

Thanks,
Sabrina
